Upload Speeds Discussion...
-
I was just wondering if anyone knew, what kind of upload speeds should someone be getting if they have a 10mb connection?
Is there any way to increase them or a specific browser anyone found to be higher than another?
I'm sure It will help a lot of people. Share from your experience :)

It depends on the technology Cable , Adsl, T1 .... But the final filter is your ISP, they control your speed up and down. I don't know about other browsers ...since i started using Firefox just don't use explorer or others anymore.
P.S.This how i calculate my upload:
This is an -> up/down calculator.
and with this program i monitor my upload:
Netlimiter -> download link.

Most people have asymmetrical lines where the download speed and upload speed are disproportionate. For example I get 6 megabits down but my upload is only 360 kilobits.

I have a 10/2 Mb/s.. 10 down, 2 up...
Normally when I download I get a speed around 1300 Kb/s and about 270 Kb/s on uploads..

I would suggest going to www.speedtest.net and doing a speed test (dooh) of your connection from your location to Los Angeles, CA, USA (where VF servers are).
Then to get an aprox. of the time it would take to upload something use the formula:
TimeToUpload (seconds) = FileSize (in MB) / UploadSpeed (in Mbps) / 8 * you need to divide by 8 in order to convert megabits to megabytes

depends 100% on your provider!
also how much your paying for and what your paying for
if u are on adsl/dsl/cable there is also asdl which if u have 10mb download your upload is also 10mb.... almost sure its asdl
